Jack Black’s Early Life and Career
Jack Black was born in Santa Monica, California, on August 28, 1969. His father, Thomas William Black, was an aerospace engineer, and his mother, Judith Love Cohen, was a satellite systems analyst. Black has two older brothers, Howard and Neil.
Black’s parents divorced when he was ten years old, and he and his brothers were raised by their mother. Black attended Crossroads School, a private college preparatory school in Santa Monica. He was a member of the school’s drama club and performed in several plays.
After graduating from Crossroads School, Black attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he studied theater. He dropped out of UCLA after one year to pursue a career in comedy.
Black began his comedy career in the early 1990s, performing at open mics and comedy clubs in Los Angeles. He also appeared in several short films and television shows. In 1994, he was cast as a member of the sketch comedy group The State.
